How to Curate a Post

Summary

To curate and moderate existing hub posts, you need to be a member of this hub.  If you are already a hub member, go to this Become a Hub Curator post  and select the “Curating Content” option and explain why you want to be a curator of one or more posts and your knowledge of a post’s topic.

Note: If you or your organization is the subject of a post, you will automatically become the lead author if you request it.

Once your request is approved by the hub manager, one of the hub’s editors will be available to assist you with the curation and moderation of the post. It is recommended that your first edits be done with the one of the hub’s editors.

A quick guide to being a post author is outlined below … after logging into hub on a laptop, desktop, or tablet computer with a screen with a minimum of 1100 pixels in width. Enter email address or user name and password

  • Go to post you want to edit and select the pencil icon at the top of the Table of Contents.
  • The onAir back-end edit fields will appear on the left.

Basic Post Curation

Your hub editor will start your post with a Feature Image and a briefSummary within a primary hub category. You can ask your editor to add secondary categories and sponsor banner.

After making your edits, select the red “Publish” button. Some authors will have option to make their post password protected

Add a Title

Keep your titles as short as possible.

If you change the title, select the “Edit” button below the title, delete the previous title, then hit OK.

Feature Image

To replace the Feature Image, you will need to create an image with an aspect ratio of 16:9 with a minimum of 1280 x 720 pixels.

You can use a software program like Adobe Photoshop. an AI image generator, or make a copy of this preformatted Google slide doc.  Download your image to your hard drive then upload to your post.

Hover over the feature image and select remove feature image, then drag and drop your image to the add

Summary

Try to limit your summary to 500 characters or less.

Optional Feature Video: play button appears at the lower right of the feature image.

Select the “Feature Video” tab in the Summary, then “Add Row”. It is recommended that add the source, date, length, and a description (if one exists). Currently only YouTube and Vimeo video links are accepted.

Rich Text Editor

Click on the content field below the “Custom Content” section to bring up the Rich Text Editor (similar to word docs and html email editing). Make sure “Visual” button is selected at the far right. The “Text” is for HTML programmers. To copy/paste html content, use the “Text” button.

Author Settings

If you want to add an author to your post, contact the hub manager.

Display Options

There are three display options for post authors:

  1. Hide featured image in post view
  2. Hide title in post view
  3. Minimize sidebar by default

Custom Sections

Authors of a post can create many different types of custom sections.

Moderate your comments

Post authors can moderate their comments as well as reply to questions and suggestions.
